Avid readers, I've been re-reading 'The Crow Road ' by Iain Banks, which has depressed me no end as it's written so well. I was reminded of the Möbius strip, mainly because he mentions it.
Over the years I have tried to explain to Tiggz and Penfold that life consists of a series of circles - physical, intellectual and emotional. I can hear them yawning, even now.
Now, I have honed this explanation of human behaviour to an even sharper edge and I am sure that you, and they, will benefit.
Imagine a very long scarf that has been sewn into a Möbius strip and thrown carelessly onto the ground. Many lives are like walking along that scarf [if the terrible Goddess ever discovered me walking on any item of clothing, my shins would suffer a lot!]. So, metaphorically, we walk along the surface, in an apparently random way and every now and again, we end up where we started or, we might be on the opposite side. We return to the same physical place but with the eyes of someone who has changed whilst tripping up on the circle line. [I hope you're keeping up with all this and if you are, perhaps you can explain it to me]. This is also the case for the intellect and the emotions [and probably the spiritual as well, but I'm not up to speed in that area].(Or any other. This paragraph needs a really good... editing(?) but I've decided it illustrates the chaotic nature of Peabrain's thought processes perfectly. Lo, TG Ed.)
This simple image explains why I'm always going round in circles, why I change my mind, why I sit on the fence and why my children never visit. The terrible Goddess is above all this rubbish, of course.
Coming soon 'The Rules of Russian Croquet' - how to discover which ball is really a bomb.
