I've decided to do my bit for the environment - I've bought a bicycle.
I am using it to pop over to the supermarket on the other side of the marina - luckily there's a bridge.
I've found a shortcut that isn't a designated cycle lane. Unfortunately it's full of pedestrians that keep getting in the way.

I have come up with a cunning plan.

I've taken a hint from TG's hero, Boadicea, and welded kitchen whisks to the hubs of the wheels. Now as I frantically pedal through the milling crowds, they receive a really good battering.

The first time I went to the shop, a very lengthy 5 minutes I can tell you, I felt a little faint. So I will have to insist [oh yes, I can be very forceful if the mood takes me] that the terrible Goddess drives round in the car so I can have a little sit down and some refreshments before doing the shopping. She will have to park on a double yellow line to be at the right place to minister to my needs, and leave the engine running in case a quick getaway is needed if a traffic warden appears.
(He's been at the cooking sherry again. Lo,TG Ed)

How all this helps the environment, I have no idea - but at least I'm making an effort.
